Colonic Irrigation: Your Questions Answered
What is Colonic Hydrotherapy?
Colonic Hydrotherapy is a bowel cleanse using filtered
water warmed to body temperature, which cleanses the colon
of toxins, gas, and faeces, which is the waste material
in your colon. This waste material collects in the colon.
Poor elimination of waste material can make you feel tired,
have lack of energy, headaches, halitosis, insomnia, constipation,
diarrhoea, skin problems (eczema, acne and psoriasis), allergies
which can lead to further problems such as diverticulities,
irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, spastic colon, abdominal
bloating.
Colonic Hydrotherapy is a safe and effective way to improve
muscular contraction of the colon and rid the colon of toxic
debris.
What is involved?
In this clinic an experienced therapist using modern
safe equipment carries out Colon Hydrotherapy. A two way
speculum is used which allows the pure filtered warm water
to enter the colon at low pressure, therefore there is no
risk of perforating the rectum. This water will soften the
hard faeces and mucus and organisms from the colon and will
be gently flushed from the rectum. This is a therapy, which
is natural, and clients can gain many benefits in their
health by having colonic irrigations. Intestinal cleansing
is therapeutic and is a pathway to vibrant health.
What does a consultation involve?
A consultation takes 90 minutes where a full medical history
is obtained and the therapist will ensure there are no contra-indications
to the person having a Colonic Hydrotherapy Treatment. The
procedure will then be carried out in a safe and hygienic
environment and will last approximately 45 minutes.
What is a Colon?
The Colon or Large Intestine is the end part of
the digestive system. It measures 5 feet in length and approximately
2.5 inches in diameter. Its function is to eliminate waste
and conserve water. The colon is at the end of the digestive
system and sadly is often neglected. It's structure is made
up of smooth muscle and consists of three parts:
-
The Caecum and Ascending Colon
where food waste enters in a fluid state through the
ileo - caecum valve. This leads to...
-
The Transverse Colon where minerals,
vitamins and water are re-absorbed, which leads to the
waste matter to pass into the...
-
Descending Colon where the faeces
pass though the rectum and anus.
Why have Colonic Hydrotherapy?
Colonic Hydrotherapy has many benefits in a person's
health. The water cleanses the whole colon and the water
helps to remove toxic waste. Once impacted waste is removed
the colon can then function again. Colonic Hydrotherapy
will help reshape the colon and exercise the colon muscle
as the gentle filling and emptying of the colon improves
peristalsis (muscular contraction). Colonics give you a
feeling of being healthier and encourage the colon to fuction,
as it should.
Is Colonic Hydrotherapy painful?
In most cases people find the therapy rejuvenating and a
sense of wellbeing is experienced. In some cases, slight
discomfort may occur when the colon muscles contract, which
feels like cramp or gas. This situation is dealt with by
the qualified therapist.
Is Colonic Hydrotherapy dangerous?
For each individual client, a new sealed disposable pack
is used which contains a speculum water inlet and outlet
tube so there is no risk of contamination. The machine is
cleaned with sterilsing solution between each client and
all linen is also changed. There are no recorded incidents
of perforation to the colon as water is gently intoroduced
at low pressure. This therapy is carried out using a Transcom.
Will I need more than one Colonic?
Every person is different in their response to
colonic hydrotherapy and the therapist will advise on the
length of time between treatments. If there is constipation
or other problems, it will be advised to have the second
treatment fairly close following the first treatment so
that the colon will not revert back to the way it was. More
than one colonic therapy is beneficial in keeping the colon
healthy and when a client's health improves through colonic
hydrotherapy, they will return for further treatments. Herbal
or coffee enema may be necessary during a treatment or acidophilus
implanted but this will always be discussed with the client
and the reason given as to why this may be necessary.
